Dr. Liakat Ali was born on 17 August 1984 in the Munshiganj district of Bangladesh. He received his bachelor from Patuakhali Science and Technology University and a Master’s degree from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. After that, he joined as a scientific officer at the Department of Biotechnology at Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. In the year 2013, Dr. Ali was appointed as a lecturer at the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh. He is currently serving as an associate professor in the same department of the university. Dr. Ali obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from Kyungpook National University, South Korea. The dissertation title of Dr. Ali was “Physiological Responses and Genetic Variations of Soybean to Bentazone”. Dr. Ali is the author of a good number of scientific articles published in nationally and internationally reputed journals. Dr. Ali teaches Cytology and Cytogenetics to undergraduate students and Breeding for Biotic Resistance to graduate students. Dr. Ali is supervising the research of MS students in areas of plant breeding, genetic resource conservation, and hybrid technologies of cereals, vegetables, and legume crops. He is conducting research on the development of high-yielding aromatic rice with year-round production possibilities. He is more focused on the prospects of soybean breeding concerning on development of drought tolerance soybean genotypes, early maturity, improvement of fatty acids compositions of soybean oil, suitability of intercropping soybean, and development of soybean-based silage production for cattle feeding.
