Job Responsibilities :

*Farmers’ consultation on adoption of organic farming, cultivating high yielding varieties (HYVs) of crops, production practices of different crops, providing solutions to the issues. Also, collecting data by conducting survey, participatory rural appraisal (PRA) and focus group discussions (FGDs). Collection of pest infested crop and vegetable samples for laboratory analysis to recommend appropriate treatment.

*Advising farmers on integrated pest management (IPM) and integrated crop management (ICM) by organizing farmers’ field school (FFS), as well as helping farmers forming self-help group to deal with natural disasters, such as flood, cyclone, drought etc. Also, suggesting peasants for preparing irrigation and drainage channels, and proper utilization of natural resources such as forest, river water and so on. In addition, advising farmers on the harmful impact of excessive use of the chemical pesticide.

*Providing them training on various farming issues,  for example coping with climate change matters to overcome stress in crop production; getting fair prices for farmers’ on-farm production and so on. Coordinating and conducting various farmers’ training.

*Teaching under-grade and post-grade students of BSMRAU on farming community development, agricultural technology transfer, social forestry program and rural development issues.

*Conducting students field trip to the rural areas in Bangladesh; arranging farmers meeting to exchange farming knowledge between farmers and students of the  BSMRAU at farmers’ field as well as at BSMRAU campus.
