His fields of research interests include original research in the biology and applications of plant growth-promoting microorganisms and natural bio-products in stimulating plant growth, and abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in plants. He is also working on characterization of soybean rust and rice blast resistance and developing new breeding materials using marker-assisted selection techniques. Ongoing research projects:

  1. Microbial priming for plant growth promotion, disease suppression and abiotic stress tolerance
  2. Seaweed extract for plant growth promotion, disease suppression and abiotic stress tolerance in rice
  3. Genetic studies of soybean rust resistance and its application to soybean breeding
