Free Veterinary Campaign held at BSMRAU

A three-day free veterinary campaign has commenced at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. The campaign began on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the university’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) premises with the enthusiastic participation of 66 fifth-year students from the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program as part of their internship. The primary aim of the campaign is to provide medical care and free essential medicines to livestock and poultry in the nearby communities surrounding the university. This initiative is part of the six-month internship program’s rural campaign. The campaign was officially inaugurated by Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of BSMRAU who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque, Pro-Vice-Chancellor was the special guest while Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, presided over the event. Professor Dr. Md. Taimur Islam, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital delivered the welcoming address. In his speech, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of veterinary care for both humans and animals highlighting the campaign’s significance. He also mentioned that BSMRAU regularly conducts various social responsibility programs, which have become a key part of the university’s mission. The Vice Chancellor concluded his address by expressing gratitude to the farmers who brought their livestock for treatment. Following the inaugural ceremony, DVM faculty members supervised the participating students as they provided medical services to the farmers’ animals. The farmers expressed their sincere appreciation for the university’s efforts, and many urged the continuation of such noble initiatives in the future. After the campaign, the Vice Chancellor visited the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s medical facilities and various laboratories to observe the ongoing activities.
