BSMRAU Ranks 1st In Life Sciences
The renowned UK-based education magazine Times Higher Education (THE) has once again ranked Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) at the top in the Life Sciences category in its 2025 World University Subject Rankings. The rankings were published on the THEwebsite on January 22, 2025. According to the released rankings BSMRAU has secured the first position in Life Sciences among all public and private universities in Bangladesh. Internationally the university has proudly placed in the 501-600 range. The Life Sciences rankings evaluate universities across four core disciplines: Veterinary Science, Biological Sciences (including biology and biochemistry), Agriculture & Forestry and Sport Science. A total of 1,143 institutions from 98 countries and regions were included in this year’s rankings which were assessed based on 18 specific performance indicators. The 2025 rankings are based on 157 million citations, 18 million research publications and survey responses from over 93,000 scholars worldwide. These comprehensive metrics reflect the global impact of research and academic excellence at the universities. Among the 11 subject rankings published this year, Stanford University topped the rankings in Education, Law and Psychology while Harvard University claimed the top position in Engineering and Life Sciences. The California Institute of Technology ranked first in Physical Sciences and Oxford University led in both Computer Science and Medical and Health fields. In response to this remarkable achievement BSMRAU’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman expressed his heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the university’s faculty, students and staff. He emphasized that the hard work and enthusiastic participation of everyone at the university contributed to this prestigious success which he believes will continue in the future. Notably, BSMRAU had also secured the top national position in the 2025 THE rankings in Bangladesh.
