DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY AND RADIOLOGY

The department intends to offer graduate program leading to Master of Science (MS) in Surgery degree. The proposed course curricula and syllabi in Veterinary Science disciplines have been prepared in the light of post graduate (PG) programs in vogue at different Veterinary institutes in Bangladesh and contemporary developments in Veterinary Sciences. The guiding principle of the proposed new approach is to impart comprehensive and practical knowledge by covering all important aspects of the subject area of study at Master’s level. This proposed field of study focuses on activities related to field of surgery, diagnostic imaging and soundness of livestock, companion and wildlife which are common in veterinary practices. The goal of the department is to become a center of excellence in radiological diagnosis and surgical treatment of livestock, companion animals and wildlife. The current research activity of the department is mainly focused on tissue or organ preservation and grafting or transplantation, wound or fracture healing and management, surgical corrections of the congenital defects and deformities of different animals. Students need to understand and acquire knowledge on anaesthesiology, radiology and imaging, cryobiology, surgical pathology and skills in wound and fracture healing and management, operative and experimental surgery, urogenital surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, neuro-ophthalmic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, fluid transmission and all clinical aspects of livestock, poultry, wildlife, zoo, aquatic and companion animals to conduct researches in these areas. Special emphasis will be given to surgical aspects of livestock species and wildlife.
