Overview
Assistant professor DR. Sumon has a major research and teaching interest in the realm of Veterinary Medicine specially infectious diseases. He obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2012 securing merit position fourth from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh and MS in Medicine in 2014 with distinction securing First position from the same university. In October 2015, he joined as Assistant Veterinary Surgeon in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, Gazipur under the Ministry of Forest, People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Soon after, he left the job and joined in BSMRAU as lecturer in the Department of Medicine in January, 2016 and has since been working as a faculty member.
DR. Sumon is a young devoted scholar and has keen interest in the veterinary medical research field spanning the areas of molecular microbiology, antibiogram profile of microbes, bovine mastitis and epidemiological investigation of diseases. He received many awards, prizes and medals for his outstanding academic and research accomplishments in veterinary medicine including Young Scientist Best Presentation Award from BSVER ASCon XXI in 2015 at BAU, Mymensing and National Science and Technology Fellowship (NST) from Ministry of Science and Technology, People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2013.
DR. Sumon is a registered Veterinary Practitioner by the Bangladesh Veterinary Council, Dhaka, Reg. No. 4054. He is also an active member of Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education and Research (BSVER), Bangladesh AMR Response Alliance (BARA), One Health Bangladesh (OHB), Bangladesh Veterinary Association (BVA), Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni Association and Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB).
