Brief Profile:

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shah Alam is working at Department of Anatomy and Histology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. Prof. Alam obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and Master of Science (M.S.) in Veterinary Anatomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh, and then his doctoral degree (Veterinary Medical Sciences) from the University of Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Alam was a postdoctoral fellow at the same university from 2010 to 2011. During this period, Dr. Alam investigated the role of oxidative stress in spermatogenic cell apoptosis in rat and mouse models and its inhibition using the Nrf2 signaling pathway. He took 2nd postdoctoral training in the Structural Biology Group at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. During his postdoctoral training, Dr. Alam did whole-mount three-dimensional (3D) imaging of urogenital, digestive, and nervous systems using optical tissue clearing and immunofluorescence methods in normal and Nrf2- related disease models. Currently, his research focuses on the role of neutrophils and cytokines release by programmed cell death (apoptosis) and oxidative stress in preclinical disease models and environmental endocrine disruptors exposure. To date, he has over 35 articles in reputed journals, such as Cytokine and Growth Factor Reviews, Reproduction, Tissue and Cell; Heliyon, Acta Histochemica, Anatomia Histologia and Embryologia, European Respiratory Journal, International Immunopharmacology, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Journal of Neuroscience Methods, Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, Reproduction Fertility and Development, Egyptian Journal of Histology, Okajimas Folia Anatomica Japonica, Veterinary Sciences Research and Review, Journal of Advanced Veterinary and Animal Research, Journal Advanced Biotechnology and Experimental Therapeutics and Journal of University, Teaching, and Learning Practice, etc. He also presented nearly 13 papers at reputed international conferences. He has been involved in several research projects funded by a variety of sources, including the RMC of BSMRAU, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and HEQEP, Bangladesh.

Dr. Alam started his service in 2005 as a Lecturer at the Department of Anatomy and Histology,  Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, Bangladesh. Later he was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Histology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur in April 2011. He was promoted to Associate Professor and professor in 2017 and 2023, respectively. Now he is working as a full professor in the department. Dr. Alam has also teaching experience abroad including at The University of Tokyo, Japan, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.
