2. My Academic Activities

Dr S. M. Rafiquzzaman is an Associate Professor, Department of Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Environment, BSMRAU and also Head, Department of Genetics and Fish Breeding. Dr Rafiquzzaman started his career in Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) as Scientific Officer since 2005 just after completing his graduation from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). He served as scientist in the Genetics and Reproductive Physiology Division of BFRI from 2005-2010. During this tenure, he formulated and executed various national research project especially genetic stock improvement of rohu and silver barb through selective breeding, improvement of cryopreservation of fish spermatozoa technology and on-farm research of various technologies evolved by BFRI. Then He joined BSMRAU in 28th June as Assistant Professor. He went to Pukyong National University, South Korea with Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) where he completed PhD in the field of Biotechnology. After completing PhD he promoted to Associate Professor in June 2015. He published  more than 20 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter in reputed publishers. His current research interests are seaweed biodiversity and its culture practices and functional value, probiotics for fish and shrimp, stock improvement, fish feed and nutrition, aquamimicry/biofloc culture system of shrimp, molecular detection of fish pathogen.
