NEWS ON NITRO CHAMP 2023

   

Under the aegis of the South Asian Nitrogen Hub (SANH) in collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), the Grand Finale of the ‘Nitro-Champ 2023’ competition of BSMRAU students was held on August 16, 2023 at 5.00 pm at the Old Auditorium of BSMRAU. Such a brainstorming student engagement generated innovative ideas for sustainable N-management targeting ‘Halve N Waste by 2030’. Initially, 18 teams registered for the event; among them, 14 submitted a summary plan. After an initial screening process based on the submitted summaries, six (06) teams, namely Aqua Master, Dynamic Dream, Farm Fertilix, Nitro Nebula, Phoenix and Yellow were selected for the final round of the competition. Dr. Umme Shirajum Monira, Principal Seed Technologist & Research Coordinator, Supreme Seed Company Limited, Professor Dr. Md. Abiar Rahman, Director (Research), BSMRAU, Professor Dr. Abu Sadeque Md. Selim, Director (International Affairs), BSMRAU, Professor Dr. Md. Motaher Hossain, Director (IQAC), BSMRAU, and Professor Dr. Moinul Hosain Oliver, Dept. of Agricultural Engineering, BSMRAU acted as the honourable juries of the competition. After a thrilling competition among the teams, team Yellow was crowned as the winner of the competition. Team Phoenix won the first runner-up award, and team Dynamic Dreams and Farm Fertilix jointly won the second runner-up award.

In the prize-giving ceremony, Prof. Dr. Md. Giashuddin Miah, honourable Vice-Chancellor of BSMRAU was present as the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Dept. of Soil Science, BSMRAU chaired the ceremony. Professor Tofayel Ahamed, Treasurer of BSMRAU was present as the special guest.  In the occasion, students & teachers of BSMRAU, and journalists from electronic and print media were present. In his short speech, honourable chief guest highly appreciated this program and thanked the organizer for arranging such an exciting event. As nitrogen is considered one of the driving forces of food security and climate change issues, the honourable chief guest advised the relevant personnel to be aware of sustainable N-management to achieve the target ‘Halve N Waste by 2030’.
