20 BSMRAU Students Receive NEF Scholarships from Japan
The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) of Japan has awarded scholarships to 20 talented students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). The scholarship cheques were presented to the students in a ceremony held on Thursday at 3:00 PM in the office of the Vice-Chancellor of the university. The scholarship recipients, all undergraduate students from various departments, will receive an annual stipend of BDT 35,000. This initiative aims to support students pursuing degrees in agriculture, fisheries, and animal science. The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. G.K.M. Mustafizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of BSMRAU, as the chief guest. Also present were Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, Treasurer and Md. Abdullah Mridha, Registrar (current charge) of the university. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Coordinator of NEF Bangladesh and Director of the International Affairs Division at BSMRAU. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to contribute more actively to environmental conservation. The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF), a Japanese non-governmental organization founded in November 1989, focuses on environmental protection in developing countries. As part of its mission, NEF has extended this scholarship program to agricultural students in five Bangladeshi universities: BSMRAU, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and Jahangirnagar University.
