Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque
Prof. Dr. M. Moynul Haque was born on 1 January, 1960 in Pabna District of Bangladesh. He passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in 1975 and 1977 respectively, from Rajshahi Cadet College under Rajshahi Board. He obtained Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (1981) and Master of Science in Agronomy (1983) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. He obtained Ph.D. degree in 1995 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur.
Dr. Haque started his career in 1983 as Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and served 13 years before joining as Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy. Currently, he is serving as Grade 1 Professor, Department of Agronomy, BSMRAU.
During his service, Dr. Haque completed training course on cropping system at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines; Breeding using molecular markers, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China; Advanced techniques in mungbean research, AVRDC, Taiwan; and Seed testing and certificate course at Danida Plant Directorate, Copenhagen, Denmark.
In additional to teaching profession, Dr. Haque holds positions of Head, Department of Agronomy, and Seed Science and Technology Unit. He also served as Director (Transport), Director (Outreach program), Additional Director (IQAC), Registrar of the university and Dean, Faculty of Agriculture.
He is engaged with different research and development activities both with national international organizations including BARC, NATP-KGF, SID/DANIDA, MoA, EU-FAO, MoST, MoE and RDRS, Bangladesh. As a term member, outcome of his research are development of two rice varieties, six mungbean varieties, one chickpea variety and one soybean variety which are popularly cultivated in different regions of Bangladesh. In contribution of his research Dr. Haque is awarded BARI-ACIAR Certificate of Scientific Achievement in recognition of outstanding contribution to research and development of pulses. Dr. Haque published about 138 research articles in different national and international journals.
