Profile 

Mariam Khanam was born on 28th December, 1992 in the village of Chalk Jamalpur under the Kaligonj upazila of Gazipur district. She passed the secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 2007 securing GPA 4.69 out of 5.00 from Begum Rabeya Ahmed Girl’s High School, Gazipur and the Higher secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in 2009 from Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya, Dhaka securing GPA 5.00 out of 5.00. She obtained Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur in 2014 securing CGPA 4.00 (1st position among 87 students). She also completed her Master of Science in Soil Science degree in 2017 from BSMRAU securing CGPA 4.00 (1st position) out of 4.00.
Mariam Khanam achieved Primary and Junior Scholarship (Talent pool) in 2001 and 2004 respectively. She was awarded prestigious Prime Minister Gold Medal Award 2015 in recognition of outstanding result in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. She was also awarded National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship during 2015-2016 for Master research.
Mariam Khanam started her teaching carrier as a Lecturer in the Department of Soil Science at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur in 7th December, 2020 and was promoted as an Assistant Professsor in January, 2023 in the same department. She is a life member of Soil Science Society of Bangladesh, Ecological Society of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Association for Advancement of Science (BAAS). She is also a member of Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh and BSMRAU Alumni association.

Mariam Khanam involves  in regularly offering course of SSC 365 (Soil Microbiology) at undergraduate level under the Department of Soil Science.

Research interest

Highly interested in soil microbiology, carbon sequestration, crop nutrition, soil fertility and management, nutrient dynamics, crop stimulation modeling research.
