S (2)Dr. Habibur Rahman is a Professor in the Department of Entomology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural Univcrsity (BSMRAU), Bangladesh and works in the laboratory of pesticide And environmental toxicology belonging to this university. Currently, he is working with Risk assessment and residue analysis of persistent organochlorine insecticides in different environmental matrices. Dr. Rahman has developed his skill in operating and handling the pesticides residue analytical equipment particularly GC-MS and HPLC as well as learnt the methods and techniques for sample collection, preservation, extraction, clean-up, injection and quantification by GC-MS and HPLC. Alongside he offers courses on IPM and pesticide toxicology at B.Sc and MS level as an academic part in the university. He has conducted research on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and prepared a very good thesis entitled “Biology and management of citrus leaf miner Phyllocnistis citella Stainton in nursery plant” during his MS degree.

Mr. Rahman has developed some valuable pest management technologies for the citrus grower in Bangladesh specially to manage the citrus leaf miner in the nursery. Recently he has developed method for pesticide residue analysis in milk, soil, vegetables and dry fishes. He presented his research findings in several workshops nationally that attracted the attention of Entomologists of different institutes. Moreover, he was also a member secretary of Information and communication Technology (ICT) sector of BSMRAU (2010-2011). He has proven intrinsic creativity and innovative thoughts and perception as evident from his effective and active contribution in the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the BSMRAU.

Mr. Rahman is the life member of Bangladesh Entomological Society, Plant Breeding and Genetics Society of Bangladesh (PBGS), Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh and Network of Instrument Technical personnel and User scientists of Bangladesh (NITUB).  Personally Mr. Rahman is married and blessed with a son (9 years). Mrs. Rahman is a PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding from BSMRAU and Senior Scientific Officer (Genetics background) at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).
