I welcome you to the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). Earlier the department of Computer Science, Immediately after its initiation, merged with the department of Statistics, and both departments conducted teaching and research as the department of Statistics and Computer Science. In the year 2011, both departments separated as the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, and the Department of Statistics. The department offers courses for the students of Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. It involves in different fundamental and basic research in the field of Information and Communication Technology for Agricultural Development.
Dr. Gonesh Chandra Saha is the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur, Bangladesh. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the department’s academic programs, research activities, and administrative functions. He is likely involved in setting the department’s strategic direction, managing its budget, and ensuring that the department’s programs and services meet the needs of its students, faculty, and stakeholders.
The last few years have highlighted the critical role that computing plays in tackling society’s most pressing issues. Our discipline is fundamental in fighting disinformation, building fair artificial intelligence, and the internet of things in agricultural development. The department also has a profound impact beyond campus. The department initiated the first ever smart agricultural initiative, E-village, in Bangladesh.
