BSMRAU faculty member gets Bangabandhu fellowship

Mohammad Zahangeer Alam, Associate professor Department of Environmental Science at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural university (BSMRAU) at Gazipur, has been awarded Bangabandhu Fellowship from Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina recently. Minister of Science and technology arranged the fellowship awarding ceremony for teacher, student and researcher at Osmani Sriti Milonayatan, Dhaka.
It is noted worthy that Mohammad Zahangeer Alam has been conducting research on “Arsenic Uptake in Pulse Crops and Mitigation Techniques” under this fellowship.
This Research is being conducted in collaboration with Washington state university (WSU), USA, and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). It is expected that the translocation of arsenic from soil to root, shoot and seed of pulse crops towards the human food chains will be reduced as much as possible.
