Appointment of Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies at BSMRAU

Professor Dr. Md. Abu Ashraf Khan, Department of Plant Pathology has been appointed as the Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur on 10 June, 2020 for next two years.  He was born on 12 March, 1963 in the village of Gharinda, PS and District Tangail in a respectable Muslim family. He obtained B.Sc. Ag (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant Pathology from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in 1986  and 1987, respectively and securing first class with distinction in both the examination. He got PhD in Plant Pathology from Kyushu University, Japan in 2000. He conducted higher research under JASSO fellowship in Japan and received training on laboratory management under DANIDA fellowship in Denmark. He supervised 5 PhD and 30 MS students as Major Professor and published 72 scientific papers in national and international journals. His teaching and research interest on Seed Pathology and Plant Bacteriology. Detection, identification, characterization, epidemiology and control of seed-borne bacteria and fungi are the major area of his research. Dr. Khan has served the university by holding the various positions such as Proctor, Departmental Head, Coordinator of Seed Science and Technology Unit and as member of different committees. He is active members of different professional societies.
