Dr. Shaikh Shamim Hasan has specialization and interest in land use management through using different models, higher education quality assessment and different aspects of rural development related issues. Currently he is serving as Professor at the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D. (2017) from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China. Earlier he obtained his MS in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh in 2004. Before that he bagged his B.Sc. Ag. (Honours) from the Agrotechnology Discipline of Khulna University, Bangladesh. His Ph.D. research theme was land use land cover change in rapidly urbanized Bangladesh. However, his research interest is multidisciplinary ranging: land resources management, modeling of land cover changes, higher education quality assessment, impact assessment of agricultural and rural development-related issues, sustainability, and program evaluation.
