Dr. Md. Raihan Talukder

Dr. Talukder was born on 17 November, 1982 at Ukharia Bari village, Dhonbari, Tangail, Bangladesh. He passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination in 1998 and the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination in 2000 securing 1st Division in both cases from Dhaka board. He obtained B. Sc. in Agriculture in 2004 and MS in Environmental Science in 2007 from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh securing first class in both cases. He also obtained MS in Plant Pathology degree in 2011 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur. Then, he went to Japan as a Japanese Government Scholar and did MS in Agriculture and Forestry from Shimane University, Japan in 2017 and Ph. D in Bioproduction Science in 2019 at the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Tottori University, Japan.

 

He started his service in 2007 as a Scientific Officer in the Soil Science Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Gazipur and continued his services there until the joining of this university. He was a member of Executive Committee, BARI Officers’ Club.

 

In 2013 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur. He also served the university as Assistant Provost of Tajuddin Ahmed Hall. In 2018 he promoted to Associate Professor and served as Head of the Department of Environmental Science from 12 September 2019 t0 11 September 2021. Finally he promoted to Professor at 06 November 2022.

 

He attended in many seminars, trainings, symposiums and conferences at home and abroad. He attended a training course on crop modeling at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), India; on soil fertility and fertilizer managements at Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and University Kelantan Malaysia (UKM). He attended at annual conference of Japanese Horticultural Society 2016 and 2018 held at Meizi University, Japan and Kagoshima University, Japan, respectively. Besides these he also attended many workshops and training held at BARI, BRRI, FAO and BARC. He is a member of Japanese Horticultural Society; Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science; Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh; Bangladesh Ecological Society; Japanese Universities Alumni Association, Bangladesh. He was program leader/project director of many nationally and internationally recognized research projects. He is a man of high integrity and personality.
