Short Biography

  • Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir has been working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Soil Science of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh. He has been involved with teaching and research on Soil Chemistry, Soil and Environment Pollution and Remediation, and GIS and Geostatistical Approaches. He obtained his BS in Agriculture in 2011 and MS in Soil Science (Arsenic pollution and geostatistics) in 2013 from BSMRAU. He completed his PhD degree in Agriculture (Arsenic remediation through microwave and biochar) in 2021 from The University of Melbourne (UoM), Australia. He was awarded “Prime Minister Gold Medal” in 2012 and UGC (University Grand Commission) Merit Scholarship for his outstanding result in BS and NST (National Science and Technology) Fellowship, for his MS research. Also, he was awarded several prestigious fellowships for and during his PhD named RTP, MIFRS, MIRS, UMTS etc. He has served as a trainer of soil profile study at the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Science in the UoM, Australia during 2017 to 2020. He attended a number of National and International Symposiums/Conferences in Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, and USA. He has experience to handle a number of esteemed research projects on soil arsenic and heavy metal pollution and remediation, industrial pollution assessment and management, microbial diversity in polluted soil, nano adsorbent, and Zn & Fe biofortification as a PI and Co-PI funded by RMC/UGC-BSMRAU, USDA, USAID, DANIDA, World Bank-KGF, BENBEIS-MoE and BAS-USDA of Bangladesh. He has published more than 20 research paper in reputed journals.
