Department of Animal Science and Nutrition

The Department of Animal Science and Nutrition is acknowledged nationally and internationally for its excellent research, teaching, and extension programs in livestock, poultry and wild animal production and biology. Our faculty members have received national recognition for the quality of their classroom instruction and attention to student needs and concerns. Our basic and applied research mission is to seek new knowledge on animal production, biology, animal behavior, welfare, law and ethics, animal nutrition, fodder production and quality, wildlife management. We are committed to cutting-edge research in the areas of animal nutrition, feed stuffs, feed additives, medicinal plants, probiotics, animal production systems, meat quality and safety, molecular biology, cell culture, developmental and growth biology, physiology and cell signaling, microbiology, animal by-products and waste management, animal behavior and welfare.
