Abu Nasar Md. Aminoor Rahman is the Professor of Reproductive Biotechnology & Wildlife Biology in the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics & Reproductive Health.Currently he is acting as the Director of Kbd. Dr. Kazi M. Badruddoza Outreach Center and Head of the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics & Reproductive Health at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Bangladesh.

He was the first Vet Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science (FVMAS), BSMRAU. He was also a member of the Syndicate of BSMRAU from 2012-2013. He obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and MS in Anatomy degrees from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), securing First position in the First Class in both the cases. He joined Department of Livestock Services as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1994. In May 1996, he joined the Department of Anatomy and Histology of BAU as a lecturer. Soon after he left BAU and joined Bangladesh Open University (BOU) as a lecturer in August 1996 and became an Assistant Professor in May 1998 and Associate Professor in April 2004. Professor Rahman was appointed as the Adviser of Training & Research unit of BOU in June 2009. He became a member of Academic Council of BOU in 2009. Professor Rahman joined BSMRAU as a Professor in July 1, 2010. He received extensive training in medicine & surgery of small animals & birds and immunobiology from University of Guelph, Canada in 1998. Professor Rahman obtained MVSc from University of Melbourne, Australia under AusAID scholarship in 2002 and PhD from University of Malaya, Malaysia under IDB merit scholarship in 2008. His MS, MVSc and PhD theses were focused on the reproductive biology, immunology and biotechnology of birds and small ruminants, mainly in vitro embryo production. Professor Rahman played the vital role in establishing the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science at BSMRAU as well as playing vital role for establishing Wildlife Reproduction & Conservation Center at the Dept. of Gynecology, Obstetrics & Reproductive Health, FVMAS, BSMRAU.

Professor Rahman is the author and co-authors of 54 research & review papers and books & encyclopedia spanning the areas of Nature, wildlife, bird, butterfly, anatomy, reproductive biology, reproductive immunology, reproductive biotechnology, veterinary medicine, livestock and poultry management, open and distance education. Currently he is acting as the Chairman of Editorial Board of BSMRAU Newsletter and Regional Editor of Theriogenology Insight. He edited about 10 books and magazines and was an Associate Editor of the Journal of Agriculture & Rural Development. He is a columnist and wildlife photographer of leading national news papers and featured more than 250 articles in newspapers on wildlife, bird, livestock, poultry and conservation of environment & nature.

Professor Rahman received many awards, prizes and medals for his outstanding academic and research accomplishments in mucosal immunology and embryo biotechnology including Best Oral Presentation Award in 2007 at Sarawak, Malaysia; Graham Jackson Memorial Prize in 2001 at Canberra, Australia; Chancellor’s Gold Medal & University Award from BAU and UGC Merit Scholarship. Last year he became the Most Valuable Person of the Year for Livestock Development. Recently he received Wild Bird Conservation Award from CVASU. He presented his research findings in many international conferences/symposia in Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, India, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand and United Kingdom.

Professor Rahman is actively involved in writing, nature photography and conservation; member of many nature and wildlife conservation societies. He is the founder general secretary of Amateur Zoological Club, Natural History & Conservation Society of Bangladesh and founder president of Environment & Biodiversity Conservation Association. He is also acting as Forest & Environment Secretary of Bangabandhu Shikka O Goveshona Porishod. Eminent bird and wildlife specialist Dr. Aminoor is currently a member of National Vulture Recovery Committee and Peer group specialist of Status Survey and Development of Elephant Action Plan for Bangladesh of the Ministry of Forest & Environment, Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh.

Professor Rahman’s most outstanding creation is the book entitled Wildlife of Bangladesh published by Department of Films & Publications, Ministry of Information, Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh. In this bilingual book he acted as the writer, English translator and Chief Photographer where he put his years of field experience both as wildlife biologist as well as wildlife photographer. This text book will be a practical guidebook for the undergraduate as well as postgraduate Zoology, Forestry, Environmental science and Veterinary students.
