Graduation day 2017 held at BSMRAU

The graduation day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) for the students of Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) 9th batch, Bachelor of Science (Fisheries) 5th batch, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science (DVM) 2nd batch and BS (Agricultural Economics) 1st batch was held today (on Tuesday 19 September’17) at the University auditorium. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Giashuddin Miah was present as Chief Guest. The Vice-Chanceljlor distributed a memento of the University and provisional certificate to the graduate students. He expressed congratulations to the newly graduate students and formally announced the result of BS (Agriculture), BS (Fisheries), DVM and BS (Agricultural Economics).

Earlier Prof. Dr. M. Moynul Haque Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Md. Zahangir Alam Dean Faculty of Fisheries, Prof. Dr. Md. Morshedur Rahman Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science and Prof. Dr. M. Kamruzzaman Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Extension & Rural Development (AERD) formally handed over the results of BS (Agriculture), BS (Fisheries), Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and BS (Agricultural Economics) to the Vice-Chancellor, respectively. Registrar Syed Zahurul Amin also delivered the welcome address. Student Abu Sayeed Md. Hasibuzzaman BS (Agriculture), Md. Foisul Hossain BS (Fisheries), Mst. Umme Habiba of DVM and Saida Akter Jui BS (Agricultural Economics) achieved the highest GPA and expressed their feelings. A total of 79 students of BS (Agriculture), 21 students of BS (Fisheries), 13 students of DVM and 16 students of BS (Agricultural Economics) were conferred with their degree on the graduation ceremony. The graduation day started with a colorful rally with the participants of Vice-Chancellor BSMRAU, graduate students and faculty members of the university.

Meeting on Land Use Policy of Asian Countries held in Tokyo

A regional meeting on “Assessing Land Use Functions for Sustainable Land Management in Asian Countries” sponsored by Asia Specific Network for Global Change Research (APN) was held in the Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability. United Nations University, Tokyo, Japan during September 5-6, 2017 where experts from Bangladesh, China and Japan attended the meeting. In this meeting, three important papers based on field works and experts’ opinion from three countries were presented. The first day of the meeting was Presided by Prof Dr. Lin Zhen, Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China where discussion was held on the findings of presented papers. The second day was presided by Prof Dr. Md. Giashuddin Miah, Vice-Chancellor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur, Bangladesh where route maps for future activities and policy briefs from the outputs of the works were thoroughly discussed. The meeting was coordinated by Dr.  Kikuko Shoyama, United Nations University, Tokyo Japan.

BSMRAU Organises Seminar on Aquaculture

A seminar titled ‘Live Food in Aquaculture of Bangladesh’ was held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) on August 23, 2017. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Giashuddin Miah  was present at the seminar as the  Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Head, Department of Aquaculture acted as Chairman. Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Aminul Islam, Director (Research) and Prof. Dr. Abu Sadeque Md. Selim, Director (P&D) were present as special guests.  Prof. Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain presented the keynote paper on “Present Status and Prospect of Live Food in Aquaculture of Bangladesh.” Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University presented his paper on “Rotifer Culture”, while Prof. Dr. Ahsan Bin Habib from Bangladesh Agricultural University presented another paper on “Spirulina Culture”.  Deans, Directors and senior professors of the university, teachers of Fisheries Faculty and Post-graduate students of Aquaculture Department were present in the Seminar.
